Review: The Princess Problem by Christi Barth

The Princess Problem

What girl doesn’t want to wear a tiara? Me. The one who lives in yoga pants and knows she’s not special enough to be a princess.

One minute I’m starting my dream life in NYC, and the next, a man too hot for his own good is banging on my door, telling me that I’m a long lost princess of a country on the other side of the Atlantic.

Not exactly your typical Friday night in the Big Apple.
Suddenly, all of my plans for the future are yanked away. I’m trapped in a life filled with social obligations—and stilettos!—and an uptight royal family I didn’t know existed. They, and the whole rest of the freaking country, have lofty expectations I’m not sure I can meet.

At least the aforementioned sexalicious man, Elias, is my constant shadow, protecting me with his life. The whole situation is overwhelming. So I’ve secretly put him in charge of my happiness, too...and he’s taking my orders very, very seriously.
So seriously, I’m falling for him even harder than the new country I’m coming

And that’s a major problem, because he’s crazy about me, too. I may not know all the zillion rules about being royal, but I know one for sure: No way can a princess date her bodyguard…

This is an interesting read. I enjoyed the reading and loved both Elias and Kelsey. They're such perfect characters and you won't be able to help yourself but fall in love with them.

Kelsey's life is changed all of a sudden when she finds out that she is a princess of some small country in Europe. Which might be every American's dream is a nightmare for her. She was happy in her life and was excited to start in a new city with her sister and now, she finds out that she has another family. A royal one at that. To make matters worse she feels attracted to her bodyguard. That goes against the protocols of being a princess.

Elias thinks his job will be easy. All he needs to do is find the lost princess, bring her home and keep her safe. He never thought that it would be so difficult to keep his hands to himself and not kiss her. She is unlike anyone he knows and he is having a hard time resisting her charm. After all, somethings can never be.

I think that this is a very well written story and has the right amount of humor and romance. I really enjoyed this charming tale about a princess and her bodyguard.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.

Review: Some Like It Plaid by Angela Quarles

Some Like it Plaid

When Ashley Miller sees a Craigslist ad for an all-expense paid vacation to Scotland with a handsome Highland “escort”, she’s all over it. Worn out from working two jobs to pay off the debts her scam artist ex-husband left her with, she just needs a friggin’ break already. Rolling, misty mountains of the Scottish Highlands, here she comes!

But one minute she’s sipping a latte and the next she’s zapped to the 2nd century and promptly informed she’s managed to wed her handsome Highlander without even an “I do.” Oh, hell no.

After a devastating tragedy, Connall’s tribe is left with few marriageable women. When his Druid priest suggests a place filled with bonnie lasses, he of course agrees to go fetch one for himself. But nothing prepared Connall for his sassy new wife, nor his tribe for a woman determined to see equal rights for all women.

Now the men are threatening revolt if he can’t rein his young wife in, but it might be too late. The women are demanding the men get “woke”—which of course makes no sense because they already woke that morn—and give women “the vote,” whatever the bloody hell that is. Despite all that, Connall can’t stop wanting to convince his wife to get naked, and he’s starting to wonder if he’s been bewitched.

Only the more he gets to know her, the more he starts to think she’s just what they needed. If only he survives her next demand...

An interesting twist to time travel, I really enjoyed this book. It's well written and all the characters are amazing. I especially loved Collan and Ashley's characters. They're both strong characters but also, adorable in their own way.

Ashley is recently divorced and hiding from her ex-husband's creditors. Collan is looking for a wife to take back to his time. They're the unlikeliest couple and yet, perfect together. The only problem is that neither of them belongs in the other's time and country. Will they be able to bridge the differences that span through time or is their love story doomed from the start?

I find it an interesting and intriguing read. I am a fan of historical fiction but when you add time travel into the mix, I think the story becomes simply epic. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to all romance fans, especially those who like a good historical romance involving Scottish men in plaids. ;)

Review: The Firefighter's Cinderella by Sonya Weiss

The Firefighter's Cinderella

What’s a Cinderella to do when she’s accidentally kicked her Prince Charming in the face and broken his nose? Hold an audition, of course.

Harper Bailey is desperate to keep her family’s amusement park business up and running, but her employees keep quitting, and the man playing prince to her Cinderella in the company’s mainstage show is just the latest casualty. When sexy firefighter Rafferty Bradford, the most eligible bachelor in their small town, offers to step in, Harper agrees--reluctantly. After all, she and Rafferty are ex-best friends with a ton of past history. Surely they’ll have zero chemistry onstage.

Rafferty has his own reasons for agreeing to play Prince Charming, and none of them are good. If Harper finds out the truth, it’ll just reinforce every rumor she’s believed over the years about Rafferty’s bad rep. But when their chemistry explodes both onstage and off, he’ll have to choose between happily-ever-after for himself...or the Cinderella he’s fallen for.

It is a really fun read. I enjoyed reading the story and both main characters are amazing. Harper is looking for a happily ever after and refuses to settle for anything less. Rafferty doesn't want to give up his freedom which he thinks will happen if he ever settles down. So, it's obvious that they are not suited for each other. Yet, people in their lives keep telling them that they should date and fall in love. Not that it matters.

But then Rafferty decides to play Prince Charming and help out Harper. Now, he is spending more time with her and both are renewing their friendship. As they get to know each other once again they realize that there is still a spark between them. It doesn't change what they both want from life but it might be worth it to take a leap of faith and see what happens. Now, the question is are they brave enough or not?

It's a well-written story and I loved it. It's romantic and funny. I think that it's a must-read for all romance lovers.

Review: A Rake's Rebellion by Cynthia Breeding

A Rake's Rebellion (Rake Trilogy, #3)

After a night of debauchery, Lord Barclay wakes up to find a woman in his bed. That's not unusual, but this one is fully clothed. When she tells him they are married, he is instantly cold sober and looking for a way out.

Miss Sarah Vincent, an orphan raised in an American convent, didn’t ask for this marriage. She’ll be damned if it’s in name only. But seducing a man? However, will she do that?! Good thing her friend lent her a copy of The Kama Sutra….

Brice starts to wonder what has come over his young wife. She’s suddenly taking charge of him, and their house, and no longer the timid woman he assumed her to be.

Despite his aversion to this marriage he’s starting to want his wife…in every way possible.

It's an interesting and well written historical romance novel and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The beginning is the most interesting part and it just draws the readers in and keeps them intrigued. I also loved the characters and I think that the ending was no less amazing. The pacing of the story is perfect and it has all the right ingredients; romance, humor, characters that grow with the story, and strong writing. I'd definitely recommend it to historical fiction fans.

Sarah is an American raised in a convent. She isn't ready for a life in London but circumstances have forced her to do so. Unfortunately, she now finds herself married to a man who doesn't desire her and doesn't like the idea of marriage at all. She herself isn't sure about what she wants but one thing is clear, she has no choice in the matter so she must make her marriage work. It may not be as bad as she fears after all.

Brice has never imagined himself to be married. Yet, he finds himself married to a woman he knows nothing about. There is no way he will cause the said woman any harm so he decides to stay married but on his terms. What he didn't expect were the complications that arise from their arrangement. Now, he is feeling things he wasn't supposed to feel. Does their marriage stand a chance or are they doomed to get hurt anyway?

Overall, it's a good story and an entertaining read. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.

Review: The Secret Diamond Sisters by Michelle Madow

The Secret Diamond Sisters: The Complete Series

This box set includes all three books in The Secret Diamond Sisters trilogy by USA Today bestselling author Michelle Madow and is over 1,000 pages of romance, scandal, and twists!

Three long lost heiresses. One hot summer. Lots of ridiculously sexy (and ridiculously rich) guys. What could go wrong?

When Peyton, Courtney, and Savannah Diamond are sent to live with their long lost father, their lives go from glum to glamorous overnight. Because their father is THE Adrian Diamond. Billionaire owner of the most luxurious hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

Savannah thinks Vegas is a fairy tale come true. But is bad boy Damien actually interested in her, or is she just another toy for him to play with?

Courtney wants to lay low and keep her nose where it belongs—in an SAT prep book. But will her attraction for her future step-brother bring more attention to her than she can handle?

Peyton wants nothing to do with her father. But she wants everything to do with her sexy new bodyguard, Jackson. Except Jackson’s way older than she is. And he’s forbidden from dating her, since he works for her father.

The sisters are in WAY over their heads. And they’re forgetting one important rule:

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas... but that doesn't matter when you live there ;)

Book One

This story revolves around three sisters who suddenly find themselves in Vegas. Their lives are turned upside down thanks to family circumstances. Now, they must learn to survive among rich snobbish teenagers. This is mostly just teenage drama. Who likes who and why? Who is with whom and what is going to happen to their relationship? Overall, it's fun to read. the story is told from various character's points of view. I loved most of the characters and the flow of the story is also good. But sometimes drama can be a bit much. And it's not over yet because this is only the first book in a trilogy. let's find out what else Vegas has instore for Diamond sisters.

Book Two

This continuation from book one. The story gets more interesting and I enjoyed all the twists and turns along the way. There were some secrets revealed but many things are yet to unravel. I can't wait to read book three and find out what happens next.

Book Three

An interesting conclusion to an interesting series. I enjoyed reading this trilogy. All the characters are amazing and the story has enough twists and turns to keep things exciting. If you enjoy stories with a lot of girly drama then this is definitely a must-read for you.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
