Review: Bearly There: A Bear Claw Tale 2 by C.D. Gorri

Bearly There: A Bear Claw Tale 2 (Bear Claw Tales)

Synopsis

"She knows he's the one, but he is fighting it tooth and nail, or in this case, claw!"

Krissy Sposa has been dreaming of her mating to gorgeous Bear Shifter, Taylor Devlin, since she was a teenager! But the sexy blonde Shifter is determined to remain a play bear despite her belief that they are fated mates.

Taylor has known the curly haired she-Bear ever since she started working for his family at the original Bear Claw Bakery location. Sure, he knows about her school-girl crush, but there's no way he is going to give in to temptation. No matter how sweet she looks with flour on her shirt and cream filling on her lips, Krissy Sposa is off-limits.

When a lone Bear comes sniffing around Krissy, Taylor has a decision to make. Claim her as his own or watch her get swept away by a handsome stranger!

Review

This is such a sweet, romantic and heartwarming kind of story. I really enjoyed reading it and loved all the characters, especially Taylor and Krissy. They are both perfect for each other and their story is quite passionate. I think it is a must read for all paranormal romance lovers. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Krissy has always been the one to take care of her family and be responsible at work. She doesn't know how to be selfish. For her, work is everything. Taylor is her boss' brother and she has been crushing on him for a long time now. But as far as he is concerned she doesn't even exist. She is like a little sister to him and there is no way he would ever think of her as anything else. At least, that is what Krissy thinks. Taylor likes her but the problem is that he isn't the settling type of bear and Krissy deserves so much better than him. At least, that's what he thinks. Maybe they are both right or maybe not but will they be able to figure it all out or not is another story...
To be honest, I don't read paranormal romance as much as I used to. These days I only pick up paranormal fiction if it is an author I have read and loved before and C.D. Gorri is one such author. For me, she the author whose writing style and characters are perfection. I have yet to read a book by her that I didn't absolutely love. So, if you haven't read any of her books before, I highly recommend them. Her paranormal world is simply amazing. The best thing is that these books are fast paced and quick reads. I love it because I don't like spending too much time on a book. I know how readers say that they didn't want their favorite book to end but I am not that kind of reader. I am a very impatient reader. When I start a book, if it is good then I want to end it quickly because I simply can't put it down before finishing the story and finding out how it ends. So, for me the best kind books are the ones that I can read in one sitting, i.e. two to three hours straight. That's why I feel that these stories are perfect for me and everyone else who is like me. ;)
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book for which I'd like to thank the author. It was a good read and I really enjoyed it a lot.

I love this book so much. It is such a sweet and heartwarming story about teenagers who are trying to make the best decisions in life. They are not always right and they do silly things but ultimately they own up to their mistakes and try to make amends in any way possible. It is a story of a small town residents who are not used to having secrets. Yet, they are about to find out that even in small towns, full of nosy people, secrets do exist.

Jake is captain of the hockey team. He is the most popular guy in their school. Every girl wants to date him and every guy wants to be him. But that doesn't mean anything to him. All he wants is an opportunity to play the game he loves and graduate high school so that he may start college. He is looking forward to it. His life is simple and uncomplicated until one fateful night. Teenagers being teenagers make one little mistake and now Jake's peace of mind is gone. In this chaotic time the only person who understands him is the new girl. The girl everyone things is mute. Soo, Jake realizes that she is so much more than just a new girl in town and he find hismelf falling for her.

Brooke has been there and done that, she is not willing to go down that road again and date a popular guy. That can't end well but Jake is nothing like her ex-boyfriend. He is kind and considerate. He pays attention and he cares about the people around him. It might not be possible for her to resist his charm afterall. But life is not easy on her. She has secrets and her past still haunts her. She must find the strength to let go of the past so that she might be able to build a better future. Synopsis

What do you do when a sexy, older man moves into your family’s summer rental? Well, apparently, you make a fool of yourself—over and over. Things didn’t exactly get off on the right foot with Noah Cavallari. Our first encounter was embarrassing, to say the least. But despite that, I found myself waking up every day with newfound energy. Nothing exciting ever happened on the lake—not until Noah moved into the small boathouse on our property. He’d booked it for the entire summer…and I was still trying to figure out why. When my mother became ill, I inherited the responsibility of making sure our guests were well taken care of. I should have been in college. Instead, I was living my best life…as a maid. Dark, handsome, and mysterious, everything about Noah screamed forbidden. I knew he was just passing through town for the summer. I knew he was probably too old for me. Yet, I was drawn to him. Not to mention, he tried to save my life when he mistakenly thought I was drowning. I wanted him and made no secret of it. His own attempts to warn me away soon gave way to late-night moonlight chats by the lake. We were slowly easing into a friendship that was gearing up to explode into something I might not recover from. Because he’s leaving at the end of the summer. And I have no idea what I’ll do when August ends.

Review: The Binding by Samantha Jacobey

The Binding
Synopsis
One cursed diary will change two strangers forever...

Merideth Monroe was born to a wealthy politician; luxury was her middle name. The happiest childhood, the finest schools, and landing her dream career; her future couldn’t have been brighter. She didn’t care that her mother wanted a different path for her; but when her mother is murdered and she appears to be next, nothing in her flawless life will matter.

Rider Bradshaw lived a carefree existence. Ex-military, he only wanted out of his family’s shaded history and chose to leave the sins of their past behind. However, when a girl he’s never heard of is placed in his charge by his father, protecting her becomes his obsession and keeping her safe his only reality.

Can Meri and Rider use her mother’s old book to figure out why someone is after them? Or will the guilty party succeed, ripping the tome away before killing them and then slithering back into the darkness…
Review
It's a very thrilling story and I loved how unexpected the ending was. A very well-written novel that I enjoyed reading a lot.
Rider and his father are attending the funeral of someone his father knew a long time ago. He doesn't understand why his father has brought him here when he didn't even know these people. Apparently the deceased was someone special to his father and now his father wants to help the family uncover secrets that are better forgotten.
Meri has just lost her mother. She is still in shock and grieving when she meets Rider. Suddenly, two youngsters are thrown together due to unexpected circumstances. It seems that Meri is in danger and for some reason Rider is appointed as her bodyguard. On the run, as they spend time together not only they learn more about their past but also pave a path to their future, a future that neither of them had anticipated.
It's a fast-paced novel. I liked the flow of it and the characters too. I think that it is a very good start to a promising series. Also, it is a bonus that the book can be read as stand alone.
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book.

  EXCERPT
Noah stood up and walked off the porch to put his cigar out on the cement. When he returned, he remained standing across from me. I was reminded of just how tall he was as he towered over me. A breeze blew his scent—a mix of cigar and cologne—in my direction. The same smell saturated the shirt I was wearing. I could’ve breathed it in all night. His nearness was doing things to my body I hadn’t ever felt. Noah looked around. “You mentioned some stuff around here needs to be repaired. What specifically?” I blew out a breath. Even thinking about it was exhausting. “So much. I’d have to make a list.” “Why don’t you do that? Make a list. I’m pretty good with my hands. I’ll see if there’s anything I can help with while I’m here.” He’d lost me at pretty good with my hands. My imagination was running wild. Shit. I imagined those hands doing a lot of things—mostly to me. “I can’t let you do that.” “You’d be stupid not to take me up on it. I came for a change of pace, but the truth is, too much quiet isn’t good. I like to keep busy.” Biting my bottom lip, I shook my head. “I don’t know…” “Make the list,” he insisted. Noah was right. It would be dumb not to take him up on his offer. It wasn’t like there was anyone else knocking down our door to help. I tilted my head. “What would be in it for you?” His expression turned dark. “People don’t always have to have ulterior motives.” Suddenly feeling bold, I said, “I thought maybe you would want me to go out with you in exchange.” Did you hear that? It was a record screeching. I admit, that was ballsy, but being around him brought out my flirtatious side. Maybe his cologne and cigar smoke were going to my head. “You’re joking, right?” Okay. I shouldn’t have asked. “Actually, I—” “I’m practically old enough to be your father.” Really? That’s how he saw me? I knew he was older than me…but he didn’t seem that old. No way. I’d pegged him as early thirties, though I truly had no idea how old he was. I shook my head. “No, you’re not. That’s a lie. An older brother, maybe. How old are you?” Instead of answering, he took two steps forward. “Let me make something clear.” “Okay…” “I was not insinuating anything by offering to help. And I will not be asking you out, propositioning you, or going anywhere near you, for that matter. We clear on that?” Okay, then. I swallowed. Disappointment washed over me as I cleared my throat. “Yes.” “Good.” He made his way toward the door, turning around one last time. “You’d better go. It was nice chatting. Get me the list tomorrow.” He disappeared into the house, leaving me on the porch to wallow in his lingering smell and feeling like a complete and utter idiot.

Excerpt

The blaring ring echoed off the bare walls of the nearly empty mansion as Fallon Hartigan marched down the hallway with murder on her mind. As soon as she got to the source of that ringing, she was going to give Harbor City what they wanted most and kill the most-hated man in hockey. Sure, she might get arrested, but the metro area would probably throw her a parade. She turned the corner and stopped dead in her tracks outside the open double doors leading to the overpriced defenseman’s bedroom. The man—who’d been puking his guts up less than twenty-four hours ago—was in the middle of a king-size bed, wearing nothing but a smirk and a bed sheet that was draped so low across his hips that she could see miles of those V lines south of his hard abs. Like she was a newbie nurse on her first set of rounds, her breath caught, and a blush she most definitely did not want to appear started to burn her cheeks. Damn her pasty Irish skin. Still, she had to admit, if only to herself, that the view was fucking amazing. The man was a professional athlete and had the muscular, inked-up chest to prove it. Practically against her will, her gaze traveled over the plentiful ink across his pecs and lingered a few breaths too long on his silver nipple rings. Seemingly indifferent to her perusal, Zach swiped his thumb across his cell phone’s screen, ending the incessant ringing. “About time,” he said, his voice a mellow, low rumble. “I’ve been ringing for you for almost ten minutes.” He dropped his phone on the small table next to the bed and then lounged against the headboard, managing somehow to look down his nose at her even with their current height differential. Forget killing him, she was going to go after her bestie. It was Lucy’s fault Fallon was even here. She squeezed her eyes shut and counted to ten as she recalled all the reasons why the man was a menace and not the solution to her three-month-long sexual dry spell. He was a selfish player. He was surly to the press, to the fans, and probably to his neighbor’s dog. He’d banged a puck bunny tattooed with the logo of the Ice Knights’ most hated rival. She counted to another ten while remembering why she couldn’t off him. He was Lucy’s client. He was, for some incomprehensible reason, one of her bestie’s friends. He had the skills to turn around the Ice Knights’ sofar shitty season if he could remove the giant chip from his shoulder and start playing as if he actually liked hockey again. Exhaling a deep breath, she reopened her eyes and barely noticed his muscular shoulders this time as she moved away from the door. There. All better. She’d managed to pack away the Hartigan attitude, and her temper hadn’t even made an appearance. Bully for her. Now to get back to that cool, clinical demeanor she strove for whenever she was on the clock. “You rang?” she asked, managing to keep a good 73 percent of her annoyance out of her tone as she walked farther into the room.

Review: The Crush Collision (Southern Charmed #2) by Danielle Ellison

The Crush Collision (Southern Charmed, #2)

Synopsis

Haley Howell has had a hopeless crush on her brother’s best friend, Jake Lexington, for as long as she can remember. Too bad to him, she’ll forever be off-limits. But with senior year and acceptance to a college outside their tiny southern town of Culler, South Carolina, comes new confidence. Haley’s ready to get Jake to notice her—whatever it takes.

No one in Culler notices the real Jake anymore—to them, he’s nothing more than the star football player or the kid with the family tragedy. When one mistake lands him in community service, he’s shocked to find his best friend’s little sister there, too, looking cute as hell and threatening all his no-friends-with-benefits rules. But Jake isn’t ready to take a chance, no matter how crafty Haley’s willing to get to prove him otherwise…

Review

It is a cute story and I really enjoyed it a lot. Jake is a popular football player but he is struggling with guilt, drinking a lot, and pretty much trying to destroy himself. But he has friends and family who care about him and loves him dearly. Chris is one such friend. He has always been there for him and is trying everything in his power to save him from himself. Jake had always spent a lot of time at the Howell's and not only because of Chris. He feels at home when he is there and the Other Howell is not bad either. He doesn't know when he started having feelings for his best friend's twin but it just happened. Luckily for him, she seems to like him too. Unfortunately for them both they can't date. For one. Haley is Chris's sister, two Haley's best friend has a huge crush on Jake and Haley has known that for a long time now. It will be as if they both would betray their best friends if they decided to date. Not to mention the rest of the drama that will surely ensue.
If you like reading about complicated relationships then this book is for you. It is sweet, sad, and happy all at the same time. I quite loved the story and hope others do too.
P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley.

Review: Only A Good Man Will Do (The Good Man, #1) by Dee S. Knight

Only A Good Man Will Do (The Good Man, #1)

Synopsis

Daniel Goodman is one of a set of triplets—natural, identical triplets, a rare kind of birth. He is a serious man, often feeling estranged from his wild and carefree brother Jonah and his free-spirited parents. He's also distanced from his other brother Mark, a genius who might or might not realize that he's unlike most other people and doesn't seem to care.

Daniel is a man on a mission. For years he has striven for perfection, fighting for the pinnacle of achievement in his world of academia—Headmaster of Westover Academy. Westover, established before the American Revolution, is still one of the most prestigious schools in the country. They accept only boys whose parents fit a certain mold and only those teachers who hold to a stringent set of mores, on and off campus. Jonah considers his brother a prig. Daniel sees himself as doing his best to serve his students. How much better can he serve them as headmaster? That is what he seeks to find out.

Suddenly, into his cut and dried, strictly black and white life of moral and upright behavior, comes Eve Star, formerly one of Europe's foremost exotic dancers. Her life is anything but cut and dried, black and white. Bad enough that she's enrolled her son in Westover Academy under false pretenses. More, she runs the town's most disreputable bar. Worse, much to Daniel's dismay, he finds himself drawn to her like a kid to chocolate. Nothing good can come of this attraction. Or can it? He is, after all, a good man.

Review

It's a wonderful love story and I enjoyed it immensely. It's well-written, has amazing characters, very interesting plot, and a perfect beginning as well as ending. It is emotional, funny, hot, and everything in between. I think it is definitely a must read for romance fans. And I hope that everyone enjoys it as much as I did.

Daniel Goodman is a teacher and he cares deeply for his students. Unfortunately, the school he teaches at cares more about the appearances than anything else. There is so much he has to keep secret just so he don't get kicked out of the academy. He can only help his pupils if he is there, or so he keeps telling himself. That's the reason why I doesn't want to attend his parents wedding and also why he must keep his love life hidden. It is for every one's best interest. He is not a bad person and believes in doing the right thing no matter what.

Everyone has their secrets and Eve Star too. There are many reasons why she can't get involved with Mr. Goodman but her hearts wants him. He is the first man she is willing to trust in a long, long time. But trusting him might cost them both dearly. Will their lives withstand the heartbreak that is sure to follow if they let their guards down? Surely not, but what can they do when they seem to be falling in love faster than they should.

A hot and steamy romance novel that will make you smile and cry both at the same time. I think it is a very entertaining book and would recommend it to all my reader friends.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

Release Day: GAME NIGHT by CASSIDY STORM

Release Date: February 14, 2019
Genre: F/F

♣♦♥♠

Game Night, the third book by Cassidy Storm is here! Check out what early reviews are saying:
“Holy tease Batman!!! Lol. I have read some hot stuff but this author can write some hot as CRAP stuff!! I mean I was so uncomfortable most of this book incredibly turned on. I am in love with her writing style so much that at any chance to read from her for my honest review I jump!I love how this book started off all shy and you weren’t sure of how things would progress and boy did I NOT see all that happening. I haven’t played poker before and I don’t even know how but even with my lack of knowledge I still could follow all the enticing things that played out. Alyssa made me fantasize with her and couldn’t help getting lost in thoughts with her. I had some moments when I got super upset with Casey but that was expected. I actually got upset with Mia also because I felt she was using Alyssa and I was having bad thoughts about how the whole thing could play out.Oh, what a tease that ending was but hot dang did I enjoy every moment of it!!!! Her writing gets better and better with each book she releases and this an amazing growth each time!! I’m excited to always wait patiently to see what this intoxicating author could have for us next!!! Thank you for this ride!!!!

So far, I was doing very well, having won several hands. My opponents took a few as well, with the exception of Willow who hadn’t mustered a single win. Her pile of chips quickly dwindled and disappeared. When it came time to ante, everyone looked at her.
“I… ran out,” she explained quietly.
Dallas spoke up, retrieving the box of unused poker chips. “Looks like you’ll need to buy some more. What are you offering?”
Willow bit her lip nervously. “Um… my… my sweater, I guess.”
“Fifty dollars?” Dallas counted out five stacks of the cute pink chips. I laughed at what was being suggested — until the mousy young woman actually began pulling the cashmere sweater over her head.
“What’s she doing?” I asked Dallas.
“Well, it is strip poker.”
I was dumbfounded. “Strip poker?”
“Yeah. You didn’t know?”
By now, Willow’s top was off, leaving her in a pink bra. Surprisingly, she’d been hiding a rather nice “pair” of her own beneath the preppy sweater. Although she certainly didn’t compare to Mia, Willow was definitely well-proportioned.
But I barely found myself able to ogle — I was still trying to wrap my brain around the sudden twist the game had taken.
“Your game night is strip poker?” Now I was asking Mia.
“Yeah. Did I forget to mention that earlier?” My crush had a wry little grin. “Is that a problem?”

♦ Meet the Author

A longtime reader of romance, erotica, sci-fi and horror, Cassidy Storm’s aspiration was to become an author herself. After working toward this goal for a few years, she made it official by releasing Girl Talk on Valentines Day 2018. She followed up with a lesbian BDSM erotic novella, Awakening. Her third book, Game Night, encompasses themes found in the first two books, including romance, #lesfic, BDSM and a generally fun, frisky adventure for the reader.

When she’s not writing, Cassidy roots for her favorite teams: the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Marlins. She also enjoys playing board and card games--the real, physical ones. She also likes to cook, often prompted by seeing something delicious posted on social media. She’s deathly afraid of heights and won't go near the railing at the mall, but has actually jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. So go figure.

As always, Cassidy Storm looks forward to taking her readers on a journey!
