Barnes & Noble | iTunes | Kobo | Amazon | Amazon UK | IndieBound

THE FINE ART OF PRETENDING Synopsis: According to the guys at Fairfield Academy, there are two types of girls: the kind you hook up with, and the kind you're friends with. Seventeen-year-old Alyssa Reed is the second type. And she hates it. With just one year left to change her rank, she devises a plan to become the first type by homecoming, and she sets her sights on the perfect date—Justin Carter, Fairfield Academy’s biggest hottie and most notorious player. With 57 days until the dance, Aly launches Operation Sex Appeal and sheds her tomboy image. The only thing left is for Justin actually to notice her. Enter best friend Brandon Taylor, the school’s second biggest hottie, and now Aly’s pretend boyfriend. With his help, elevating from “funny friend” to “tempting vixen” is only a matter of time. But when everything goes according to plan, the inevitable “break up” leaves their friendship in shambles, and Aly and Brandon with feelings they can’t explain. And the fake couple discovers pretending can sometimes cost you the one thing you never expected to want. EXCERPT: An exhale of breath leaves Brandon’s lips, almost like a laugh, and he scoots closer to me on the blanket. I twist my legs under myself, sitting tall as I face him. He cups my chin and tilts it toward him, drowning me in the now dark-green depths of his eyes, the cologne I gave him for his birthday filling my head. It’s woodsy and yummy and I always loved how it smelled on the store testers, but on Brandon, it’s even sexier. My eyes flutter closed, and I inhale again, this time slowly. Goose bumps prickle my arms, and my head gets fuzzy. Brandon slides his hand down the column of my neck and brings the other up, threading his fingers through the hair at my nape. His breath fans across my cheek, and everything south of my bellybutton squeezes tight. When his mouth first meets mine, it’s hesitant, questioning. But as I move my lips with his, he quickly grows bolder, coaxing them apart. Desire, pure and raw, electrifies my veins as his tongue sweeps my mouth. A whimpering sound springs from my chest, and instinctively, I wrap my arms around his neck, tugging him closer. Needing more. My teeth graze his full bottom lip, and I pull it, sucking on it gently. He moans and knots his fingers in my hair, and a thrill dances down my back. Brandon is an amazing kisser, just as I knew he would be. I have no control over my body’s reactions. I lose myself in his lips, his tongue, and his strong arms, forgetting time and space and even my surroundings—until Gabi’s snicker brings reality crashing around us, reminding me we have an audience. And that I’m kissing Brandon. We break apart, out of breath, and stare into each other’s eyes. That was unexpected.   Author PhotoAbout Rachel Harris: Award-winning and Bestselling author Rachel Harris writes humorous love stories about sassy girls next door and the hot guys that make them swoon. 4-Stars Review

Silvern is a YA fantasy novel. It is book 2 in Gilded series. I have not read book 1 but still I was able to enjoy reading it. Although first few chapters did give me a little trouble. But I caught up with the plot soon enough. It is fairly entertaining and well written book.

Jae is can travel between spirit world and our world. Both worlds are parallel to each other and at specific points the veil between them is thin. This way spirits can enter our world too. Although they have very limited power in this world but still they can cause big trouble for Jae and her companions who are trying to find and restore White Tiger Orb.

Marc is not only Jae's boyfriend but a guardian as well. He has an ability to see spirits. Thus he is able to help Jae as much as possible. Michelle and Kang-dae are their friends who are also with them on this mission. The peace in world depends on their success. Kud is god of darkness and seeking the orb as well. He will try to do anything in his power to find it and use it against both worlds.

I liked it but there were somethings about the book that made me give it 4 Stars. Firstly it is too long, which is not necessarily a bad thing but I happen to be an impatient person so I prefer not-too-long novels. ;) Secondly, I haven't read book 1 so, as I said before, first few chapters were a struggle-to-understand-plot for me. Although I think I should not hold this against the book. :) By the way it ended in a way that will make you want to read book 3 as soon as possible. I will recommend it to all fantasy fans but suggest that you read book 1 first to have more fun reading it.

Praise for GILDED, the first book in the series:
“An amazing contemporary fantasy that explores the vast legends of Korea, this richly detailed novel kept me turning the pages well into the night. Jae Hwa starts off as a strong character and ends as a noble one, using both her brains and her brawn to win the day–she’s exactly the kind of girl YA literature needs.”
~from Beth Revis, NY Times Bestselling author of Across the Universe series

"Farley brings South Korea's fascinating culture and mythology into vivid detail in this shining debut, and Jae is a compelling heroine. An exotic, thrilling read, GILDED had me utterly entranced!"
~from Jessica Khoury, author of ORIGIN and VITRO

Review: Deconstructing Lila by Shannon Leigh

Deconstructing Lila

Preservationist Lila Gentry returns to her small Texas hometown to restore the famous Chisholm Trail whorehouse where her great-great-grandmother was a madam in the 1880s. On her agenda is winning back Jake, the one that got away. But how do you rope a man who doesn't want to be wrangled?

Jake lives by one creed:  Keep it simple. His ex showing up in town complicates his life and makes him think about things he'd rather forget.

When Lila's restoration project is threatened before it even begins, she turns to Jake for help. Working together stirs up old feelings, but while Lila and Jake always sizzle between the sheets—or wherever the moment takes them—it will involve some sweet-talking and finesse to bring these two together.

4-Stars Review

I was expecting an amazing entangled contemporary romance but I got a mystery as well. This book was full of surprises, a lot more fun than I hoped for. I loved Lila's character and how she coped with hardships in life and get over her disappointment- with her therapist's help of course. She was willing to get her life back and strong enough for fight for the things she believed in.

Jake is her ex-husband, although they weren't really divorced but it had been a long time since Lila was back in town. Now she was and Jake was confused. The attraction between them was still there but was it wise to give it another try?

Prudence's character and diary put an interesting spin to the whole plot and the mystery behind its sender was a nice touch too. I enjoyed reading. I loved Lila's grandmother's character as well. Overall it is a great book which I'd recommend to all.

P.S. I love small town stories and this one was one of the best :)

Review: Second Chance Ranch by Cindi Madsen

Second Chance Ranch

Sometimes love is right where you left it.

Sadie Hart has a plan: return to her small town of Hope Springs so she can regain her confidence—and bank account—before giving one more shot to her country music dream. The dream that means more to her than anything. The dream she chose over her high school sweetheart, the brooding and sinfully handsome Royce Dixon.

Royce has moved on from his memories of the beautiful Sadie. Now he’s focused solely on running Second Chance Ranch, where he rehabilitates troubled teens through ranch work. But when he needs a new employee and Sadie’s the only one to volunteer, he has no choice but to offer his old flame a job.
Whether riding a horse with the wind in her hair or mucking out the stalls, Sadie can still get Royce’s heart beating like no one else. But Nashville is her dream, and Royce can’t settle for second best.

5-Stars Review

The beginning was very captivating, it was one of those books which you start and just keep on reading. IT is a reflection on our hopes and dreams. It is a story of two people whose life didn't turn out to be the way they envisioned. But in the end they realise; it wasn't such a bad thing after all. Sometimes what destiny has in store for us is better than what we wanted. I also liked the idea of "Second Chance Ranch." And it fits in the whole plot beautifully, capturing the true meaning of hope and love. I think the whole book is great and well written. It is a must read for those who are looking for second chances. But then aren't we all? ;)

Sadie had left her small town and the boy she loved to fulfill a dream that didn't happen. Now she is back. Not much has changed in her small town and it reminds her of all that she has missed. especially what she had with Royce. She still misses him but things had not ended well for them. On her very first day back she meets him and it is clear that he has still not forgiven her for leaving and breaking his heart.

Royce has no idea how to react. Clearly he is still a little bit in love with Sadie but he cannot forgive her. She had broken his heart and since then he hasn't been the same person. Now he has his ranch to think about. Nothing else seems more important than making it work. It was his father's dream and now his. As far as Sadie is concerned he will have nothing to do with her. That woman was, and most probably still is, trouble.

Then by luck he got to hire her to work on his ranch. Sadie needs a job desperately and he needs a woman employ just as desperately. So it works out for both of them. But the real problem is staying away from each other and overcoming intense attraction they both still feel.

I really enjoyed reading it and I hope everyone else do too. Happy reading everyone! :)

Review: Brushing off the Boss by Annie Seaton

Brushing Off the Boss (Half Moon Bay #2)

The one passion they had in common was the one that would keep them apart.

Artist Sienna Sacchi is about to have everything she’s ever dreamed of, when sexy playboy Jack Montgomery comes strolling back into her life as the owner of her gallery. Her plan to buy it herself ruined, she refuses to let him interfere with the most important thing—her debut exhibition. But Jack’s not just taking over her workplace, he’s also intruding on her art studio, her home, and maybe even her heart.

Jack Montgomery has few rules for his carefree life, but never mixing business with pleasure is one he is determined to keep. He’d planned on finally satisfying the tension between him and Sienna, but discovering he’s her boss puts an immediate end to that. Unfortunately, being forced to share a tiny apartment with the gorgeous, tempting sculptor is pushing Jack to his limits. One brush with desire could ruin everything they’ve worked for.

4-Stars Review

This was a great read. I loved both Sienna and Jack, their artistic personalities clashed with each other and made the whole story a fun read. I liked their passions and the way they acted. Sienna is feisty and prickly on the outside but in reality possess a soft heart. Jack seems to be irresponsible and without work ethics but in reality he is responsible and trustworthy.

They both had clicked at once and wanted to have a relationship but then they found out that they will be working together. The relationship was off the plate. Because Jack was Sienna's boss, also the man who ruined her plans for herself. Still both can't help but feel attracted to each other. It was not easy for them to ignore what they feel. But somehow they will have to get over it....

I also liked Sienna's twin's character. And the connection both sisters had, the way they could always tell when the other wasn't saying what she was actually feeling. It was really nice to read about. The plot was good and fairly entertaining. I gave this book a four stars only because in a few scenes dialogues felt a little off to me but otherwise it kept my interest and I liked it.

Review: Claimed by Light by Reese Monroe

Claimed By Light (A Bound By Hades Novel)

A new adult title from Entangled’s Embrace imprint…
Forgiveness softens even the hardest of hearts…

College senior Slade Bennet is so close to his degree he can taste it…until his sister becomes tangled with a coven of demons and he must trade his soul to save her. But first he must kill the assigned target: a sexually charged beauty who ignites his protective instinct.

After the devastating loss of her Companion, the last thing Halena Girard can stomach is the emotional connection to a Mate. She lives for only two things: vanquishing demons, and seeking Artifacts rumored to lead to Lucifer’s downfall. That is, until she’s attacked by a…frat boy? Worse, a newly-demonic frat boy wearing the mark of her Mate.

Halena would rather kill Slade than give him her heart. Unfortunately, the only way Slade can find his sister and Halena the Artifacts is to work together. As they face the darkest of evil, Slade’s ability to crush Halena’s carefully erected walls might prove to be the most lethal battle of all.

5-Stars Review

Another great read. It a paranormal fiction packed with action and thrill. I loved everything about this book, plot is great and well executed. all the characters are also well developed and overall the book is a five star read.
Slade is a college student about to graduate but then his sister once again finds herself in trouble. He must protect her and to do that he is willing to cross all limits, even if he had to sell his soul to a demon. After making sure that his sister is safe he went away to complete his task, which is to capture a beautiful woman.
Halena has been protecting earth from demons for eight hundred years. She is one of the best Gatekeepers. But she is tricked by Slade and captured by a demon. Now all she wants to do is kill them all.
But things enfolds in a different way. Slade and Halena are destined for each other and they must overcome their adversaries to be together forever. And here forever means forever, literally .... ;)
It is a must read for paranormal lovers. I think it has been quite a while since I read a paranormal this good. Absolutely loved it and recommend to all. :)

Hunter Moon: A Grazi Kelly Novel #2 By C. D. Gorri

Hunter Moon: A Grazi Kelly Novel #2

Being a teenage girl is difficult. Being a teenage Werewolf is almost impossible. A few weeks ago I found out that I’m a Werewolf. Yup, that’s right. I tend to get furry around the full moon. Don’t believe me? Well, it only gets more fantastic from here.
You see, I’m bound by an ancient pact my ancestors made to serve with the Hounds of God. They’re like this mega Wolf pack who technically work for the Catholic Church. The Hounds have been fighting an age old battle against covens of Witches who want to claim dominion over the Earth for the Devil.
You heard me correctly. I mean the actual Devil, you know, Lucifer, the Father of Lies. Yup. That’s the one. You see, the Devil, is an actual being. Not some metaphor for evil. He is a fallen angel and his minions take many forms. The Hounds of God fight those minions. We are an ancient order dedicating to protecting humanity.
My father before me was a Hound. He and my mother died fighting this battle when I was about three years old. I keep a picture of them next to my bed.
I don’t remember that much about them, except for this recurring dream I have of my mom. Anyway, I was raised by my maternal grandmother, Nonna Rosa. Her son is my Uncle Vito. He and his family live with us too. Only Nonna knows the truth about me.
Hard to believe? You betcha. I didn’t really buy it either until last night when I got all furry and fangy and ripped the throat out of my high school librarian.
Scary, right? But they aren’t the only things out there. There’s much more that I have yet to learn.
This world is new to me. It is full of dark and dangerous things. And most of them seem to want me dead. I’m scared, I mean, I’m not crazy. But I have to survive. I just have to. To find out what really happened to my parents. And to avenge them.

The book 2 starts from where book 1 left off. The story continues. It is just as good as the first book and again I will say that it has been one unique werewolf series. I admire Gorri's way of writing. All the characters in this book are great and the story line is just amazing. It is a 5-star read and I'd definitely love to read more of it and recommend it to others too.

The story becomes more intriguing by the minute. It is full of surprises and very entertaining. Grazi is a teenage girl who recently finds out that she can also turn into furry creatures- she is a werewolf. It is pretty new to her and life with the pack held lots of wonders, as far as she is concerned. There is so much she still needs to learn about her father's family, werewolves and herself. It is a journey where she learns to grow and meet her destiny.

Ronan is another werewolf who also happens to he her guardian. They both learn to fight together and there is something about him that Grazi finds irresistible. Her wolf approves of his wolf too. But he might be interested in her cousin. In my opinion Ronan and Grazi deserve each other. ;)

They are fighting witches and also helped by a witch. Apparently not all of them are so bad. This makes it even more interesting and worth reading. I am happy that I read this one too as I had loved the first book as well.

P.S. I want to that the author for generously providing and ARC. My review has not been affected by that fact at all. :)

The Spia Family Presses On by Mary Leo

The Spia Family Presses On

Olive oil is the new wine...

That's what Mia Spia and her family of recovering mobsters are hoping for here in Sonoma Valley, California, where they produce award-winning olive oil. It's been two long years of hard work for Mia and her overly optimistic mom, all the while keeping their former wise guys on the straight and narrow. That is until ex-con Cousin Dickey arrives to throw a rotten olive into the mix. Soon there's a dead body, a nosy sheriff's detective, a curious fiancé, a severed pinky finger, and a randy past lover to contend with, prompting Mia to enlist her best friend, survival expert Lisa Lin, for help. While trying to avoid being killed, the two women unravel family secrets, set a trap for a killer, and uncover information about Mia's missing father that can only lead to more rotten olives.

I love a good mystery and this book was a best. It was full of suspense, intrigue and some serious sleuthing on Mia's part. She wanted to catch the killer before he or she succeeded in framing her mother and sending her to jail for good. It was no easy feat to find one killer when your entire family consists of ex-killers/cons/mobsters. But they are recovering and have their acts straight for a while. Still someone must have fallen over the edge and reverted to old habits or cousin Dickey wouldn't be dead. It was up to Mia to find that one relative before her whole family suffers due to one person's actions. Lisa is her best friend and she was a big help. With every step they were getting closer to finding the killer, still it was not easy to find that "one mistake" which will expose him or her.

It was funny, quirky and entertaining story. There were a lot and when I say a lot I mean a lot of awesome characters. Though it's hard for me to say whom I liked the best. Mia' fragile mom or her nutty aunts. Her uncles are not bad either. I had so much fun reading it and will recommend it to all mystery/suspense lovers, this one is for you. :)

Blog Tour + Teasers: Broken Frost by Eliza Tilton

Book Blurb:
Hopeless he'll never be more than the boy who didn't save his brother, 17-year-old Avikar accepts his life as the family stable boy, trying to forget the past. But when his sister, Jeslyn, is kidnapped, the thought of losing another sibling catapults him on a desperate quest. With his best friend by his side, and using the tracking skills he learned from his father, he discovers Jeslyn has been taken, kidnapped by one Lucino, the young lord of Daath, a mystical place thought only to exist in fables.

And Lucino has plans for Jeslyn.
His shapeshifter brethren feed off the auras of humans, and Jeslyn's golden hue is exactly what Lucino needs to increase his power. The longer it takes Avikar to reach her, the more entranced she becomes with Lucino's world, and the harder it will be for Avikar to set her free.

He failed his family once. He won't fail again.

The wagons surrounded the site in a semi-circle. Sweat pooled in my palms. I had to take out the guards closest to that entrance. If I failed, so did the mission.

Get a grip.

I clenched the arrow in my right hand. Brushfire shifted nervously, sensing my fear. I rubbed her neck. I felt safer with her. She’d been with me since Jimri’s death. At night when the nightmares taunted me, I’d sneak out, riding until dawn forced us home. I’d rescued her from the burning woods, she’d rescued me from despair — today, I prayed both of us would make it out alive.

He glided towards me like a swan on water. I combed my fingers through my hair, smoothing out the wild strands. He sat down on the cot. I was surrounded by the scent of cold winter air.

“What’s your name?” he asked.

I should have replied, but fear closed my throat.

He smiled and held out his hand. “My name is Lucino.”

“Jeslyn.” I placed my hand in his, anxious and uncertain.

He gently kissed my hand. I shivered. No man had ever looked at me with such desire—not even Derrick—and it frightened me.

Outside, the sky bled, looking vicious and deathly, streaks of grey and indigo amongst the clouds. A hovercraft sat nearby, waiting. One of the royal guard stood watch. I did not need a babysitter. I was more than capable of handling any threat, but Father took precautions. Times were dangerous and our people frightened.

From here, I could see the triangular structure. “Take me to the gate,” I said as the guard opened the door.

“Yes, my prince.”

The hovercraft sped across the dry and barren ground. The Council was right, we had little time left.
